INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON “CULTURAL EXCHANGES AT MEDIEVAL INTERNATIONAL PORTS IN VIETNAM AND SOUTHEAST ASIA”

 

Call for Papers - International Conference on“Cultural Exchanges at Medieval International Ports in Vietnam and Southeast Asia”

 

 

International ports in Vietnam and Southeast Asia have had active contact and trading activities among residents inside and outside the region for a long time. This fact has facilitated the cultural exchange process to take place strongly and draw a very rich and unique cultural picture for this area. In order to exchange and discuss new research results on this issue, the Faculty of Cultural Studies and the Center for Chinese Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM in collaboration with Hoi An Center for Cultural Heritage Management and Preservation and Social Life Institute will be hosting an international conference on “Cultural exchanges at medieval international ports in Vietnam and Southeast Asia” in July, 2019.


 

 

1. THEME OF THE CONFERENCE

  

“CULTURAL EXCHANGES AT MEDIEVAL INTERNATIONAL PORTS 

IN VIETNAM AND SOUTHEAST ASIA”

 

The conference will focus on the following issues:

- Cultural identities of resident communities at medieval international ports in Vietnam and Southeast Asia;

- Contemporary culture of resident communities at medieval international ports in Vietnam and Southeast Asia;

- The process of cultural exchanges and transformations of resident communities at medieval international ports in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

 

2. DATE AND VENUE

- Dates: July 12th - 13th, 2019 (Friday and Saturday)

- Venue: Hoi An City, Quang Nam Province, VIETNAM

 

3. PAPER SUBMISSION INFORMATION 

- Papers are invited on the topics outlined.

- Languages: Vietnamese, English or Chinese.

- Paper requirements:

+ Microsoft Word document;

+ Font type: Times New Roman (entire paper);

+ Font size: 14;

+ Line spacing: Single;

+ Paper size: A4;

+ Margins: Normal;

+ Maximum length: 15 pages;

+ Citation must be listed under the heading REFERENCES at the end of the text.

- Abstract should be of approximately 300 words in English or Vietnamese, stating the purpose, results and conclusions of the work to be described in the final paper.

 

4. REGISTRATION

- Registration and abstracts should  be submitted via web form by May 01st, 2019

5. EXPENDITURE

- The expenses of accommodation and meals during the conference and transport to Hoi An will be covered by participants.

- The authors who have outstanding articles selected by the organizer will be covered for accommodation expenses during the conference.

- The expenses of tea-break, one lunch, one reception and Hoi An fieldtrip will be covered by the organizing committee.
